What is the seat hold period?
A member added to a series as a standing member keeps their place in the same session every week. When their package ends and no other package covers the series, the seat is not freed at once: it is kept for them for the Seat Hold Period. If they buy a new package in that time, they carry on in the series where they left off.
- The period starts when the last package covering the series ends or runs out of credits.
- Meanwhile the member's place in upcoming sessions shows as Awaiting Package.
- A frozen package still covers the series; a freeze does not start the period.
- When the period runs out, the member is Paused in the series, their place in upcoming sessions is removed and the freed seat is offered to the waitlist.
Set the period
On Business › Packages, press the package card.
The Edit Package window opens. For a new package, use Add Package.
Under Make-up, Freeze and Seat Hold Period, enter the number of days in Seat Hold Period.
Press Save.
The package card shows the period, such as "Seat held 7 days".
- New packages start at 7 days; you can enter up to 60.
- With 0, the seat is freed as soon as the package ends.
- Trial packages hold no seat, so the field does not appear on the form.
Keep track of held seats
Members whose seat is being held are listed on the Standing Members Awaiting Renewal card of the Overview page and under Standing Seats on the Classes card of the member's page. From there, give them a new package with Assign a Package, extend the hold with Hold the Seat, or free the seat with Remove from Series. See Standing seats in a series.
