What is a trial package?
A trial package is a short package for people who want to get to know your studio. Like a Credit package it has a set number of classes and a validity period, but it grants nothing beyond them:
- No make-up right: the member cannot cancel the trial class or move it to another session themselves.
- It cannot be frozen.
- No seat hold period: when the trial package ends, no series seat is kept.
- The same trial package can be given to a member only once.
Create a trial package
On Business › Packages, press Add Package.
The Add Package window opens.
Fill in the Package Name, the Class Type and the Class Types.
Choose Trial as the Package Type.
The note "A trial package can be assigned to a member only once." appears, and the make-up, freeze and seat hold period part leaves the form.
Fill in Classes Included, Validity Period and Price.
Press Save.
A "Package added" message appears.
Give it to a member a second time
When the trial package you pick was already given to the member, the Assign a Package window says so on its first step. The rule is per package: the same member can be given a different trial package.
- Users with the Staff role cannot get past the first step; this needs an Owner or Admin.
- An Owner or Admin writes a Reason in the window that opens on saving and gives the package anyway with Approve the Override. The reason is written to the audit log; see Override a booking rule.
How it relates to the trial class page
Trial packages are also what your studio's public trial class page runs on. Choose which ones it uses under Trial packages on the Trial Class Page card of Business › Classes. Someone who signs up through the page is added as a new member and automatically given the trial package that covers their chosen session's class; if the package has a price, it is recorded as debt.
