The make-up pool and package freezes
In Dakik the cancellation rule lives in the package: how many hours before a class a member can cancel, how many changes they get per week or per package, and whether make-ups are allowed. A cancellation within the rule puts the credit into the Make-up Pool, to be used on another session before it expires. When a package is frozen, its end date moves out by the length of the freeze.

A rule that lives in the package
How many hours ahead, how many times a week or per package, and whether make-ups are allowed, set on the package.
Make-up credits that expire
A canceled class leaves its credit in the Make-up Pool, to be put on a session before it expires.
Freezes that move the end date
The package end moves out by the length of the freeze, and the classes inside it keep their credit.
From the member's own phone
Members cancel, pick their make-up and freeze their package, under the same rules as the studio.
How is the cancellation rule set for each package?
Under Make-up, Freeze and Seat Hold Period on the package form, you first pick the Make-up Right. A package that allows make-ups opens four more fields: whether changes count Weekly or Per Package, the cap for that period, how many hours before a class a change is still allowed, and the Rescheduling Window. The rule is copied onto the member's package when it is sold.
- No Make-up Credit
- The member can neither cancel a class nor move it to another session. New packages start with this.
- Reschedulable
- The member can only move a class to another session; the credit cannot go into the pool.
- Poolable and Reschedulable
- The member can cancel a class and keep the credit in the Make-up Pool, or move it straight to another session.
- Cancellations and moves share one cap; with Weekly, the week starts on Monday and is counted by the date of the class
- A Cancellation and Rescheduling Cutoff of 0 lets the member make changes right up to the start of the class
- Staff acting for a member follow the same rule; only an owner or admin can approve a blocked action, with a reason
Trial packages carry no make-up right, so this part does not appear on their form.
What is the Make-up Pool, and how long is a make-up credit valid?
When a member cancels from their Profile page, each class row shows its Deadline; a cancellation before it keeps the credit, which goes into the Make-up Pool. The credit shows under its package on the My Packages card with the time it expires. Use lists the sessions the package covers that still have room; the member picks one and the credit is placed on it.
- Restricted
- Comes from the member's own cancellation; valid for the Rescheduling Window from that moment, and never past the package end.
- Unrestricted
- Comes from the studio, a class the studio canceled for example; valid until the end of the day the package ends.
- A credit with 3 days or less left also shows, with Use, on the Needs Attention card of the member's Profile and of Member Details
- If the chosen session is full and its waitlist is open, Join the Waitlist puts the member in line
- A Duration package does not count classes, so a canceled class leaves no credit; the member moves it with Reschedule instead
- An expired credit cannot be used and does not go back to the package
What happens to the end date and the classes when a package is frozen?
Freezing is a package rule too: choose Freezable under Membership Freeze Right and fill in the Freeze Count and the Freeze Length. Before you save, the Freeze Package window on Member Details shows the new end date and the freezes left. The package end moves out by the length of the freeze, and the bookings inside it are removed while the member keeps their credits.
- A freeze cannot start in the past or after the package end; its first and last days both count
- A freeze still to come can be canceled from its Planned freeze line, and the package gets the freeze back
- Only an owner or admin can end a running freeze with End the Freeze Early; the end date pulls back by the days left unused
- If the package allows it, the member freezes it too with Freeze My Package on their Profile, under the same rules and preview
A frozen package keeps the member's standing seat in a series.
Frequently asked questions
Can a member cancel a class after the cutoff has passed?
Not on their own: the option is closed and reads The cancellation window has passed. For a special case the studio acts on the member's behalf; an owner or admin approves the blocked action with a written reason, which goes into the audit log.
If I change a package's cancellation rule, are packages already sold affected?
No. The rules are copied onto the member's package when it is sold, so a change applies only to packages sold from then on. Edit Package does not change the make-up and freeze rules of a sold package either: it only changes the dates, the price and the classes included.
Does a member lose the credit when the studio cancels a session?
No. The package's cancellation rules do not apply when the studio cancels: the credit goes back to the member's package, and a spot whose credit was already used, or that was paid with a make-up credit, comes back as a make-up credit valid until the package ends. The booked members and the instructor are notified.
Can a member freeze a package once the freezes are used up?
No. Once the Freeze Count is used up, the package cannot be frozen again; the member's Freeze My Package button shows closed and says why when pressed. The same limit applies to freezes the studio makes. A freeze canceled before it starts gives its freeze back.
Can members do all this from their phone?
Yes. Dakik runs in the browser and can be added to the home screen of a phone. Members cancel, reschedule, use make-up credits and freeze from their Profile page; pressing a class on their Calendar page and then Cancel / Change opens the same window.
